Administering someone's affairs after their death
When a person dies, the emotional strain it causes can be exacerbated by the burden of having to deal with what can seem like an overwhelming amount of bureaucracy and paperwork.
We will ensure that the deceased's estate is administered correctly according to the law and that the assets are distributed to those who are entitled to it. This may be in accordance with a will or the intestacy rules when no will has been made.
Our expert team will guide you through the whole process of valuing the assets and liabilities, applying for the Grant of Probate, realising the assets, paying the debts and legacies and finally winding up the estate.
We will also deal with all tax issues arising out of the death and will give you specialist advice on any steps which could be taken to minimise the tax liability. See Tax Planning for further information.
At the end of the administration we will prepare a detailed set of accounts for you to see what has been dealt with and how the estate has been distributed.
We will also assist in whatever way we can if a dispute between the beneficiaries arises. See Estate & Trust Disputes for further information.
